Portland, Oregon
The Fire Station 18 project included partial demolition and complete renovation of 5,809 sf of existing space, plus an 864 sf addition and associated site and utility work. In addition to a seismic upgrade, the scope involved complete replacement of all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, communications, data, and fire protection systems. The station will be converted to double crew status in the future. In response to this, MCA extended the apparatus bays and redesigned the crew quarters to accommodate larger crews. New dormitory areas include individual sleeping rooms and separated toilet and bathing facilities accommodating mixed-sex crews. Fire Station 18 was the City’s first fire station to receive LEED NC Gold Certification.
